Xerox Helps Organizations “Be Green” by Meeting Sustainability Goals

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 22, 2010 – Partnering with Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) makes every day Earth Day for businesses around the globe. Xerox shares its dedication to environmental responsibility and green innovation with customers, delivering solutions that protect the Earth while growing the business.

“Xerox is committed to helping organizations of all sizes create a document strategy that will both reduce costs and help them meet their environmental goals,” said Patty Calkins, vice president, Environment, Health and Safety, Xerox. “From managed print services (MPS) to enterprise content management (ECM) and Web-to-print, our green products and services open new business opportunities for our customers, while also helping preserve the environment.”

Xerox customers are going green by transitioning from paper to digital documents. Working with KeyCorp, Xerox helped the financial services company design a new document management strategy using MPS and Xerox Lean Six Sigma-based assessments. By decreasing the number of output devices from 10,000 to 3,500, KeyCorp reduced paper consumption, decreased power usage and eliminated tons of landfill waste.

Western Forest Products, a Canadian integrated forest products company, uses Xerox DocuShare, an ECM platform, to digitize its highly manual and paper-intensive accounts payable process. The automated process reduces the need for hard copy documents.

EarthColor, one of the largest commercial printers in the U.S., installed a fleet of iGen4™ Digital Presses and a Web-to-print system, enabling a print-on-demand strategy. Paper consumption and waste are reduced as EarthColor prints quantities only as needed rather than storing inventory for some of its clients.

Xerox aligns its environmental sustainability goals around four commitment areas: climate protection through energy efficiency; protection of biodiversity in the world’s forests; preservation of clean air and water; and waste prevention and management.
