Xerox DocuShare CPX 6.0
Xerox says DocuShare CPX 6.0, a recent update to its enterprise content management tool, offers improved compliance reporting, workflow enhancements, and pre-defined templates that leverage XML technology to transform ordinary Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into electronic forms (e-forms), which link to databases, applications and frequently updated reports. These can be automatically updated whenever the data changes, Xerox added "It's for workgroups or working teams that need to pull things together around a particular project," says John Gonzalez, senior product line manager at Xerox Corp.

The project home page (above) includes a calendar that links to other content within the workspace such as individual files, URLs, wikis and blogs. The folder objects are a way to organize information that is somehow uploaded into the system. "You may want to bring in e-mail from an Outlook client that connects to Microsoft Outlook, or it might just be in a place that people upload content in support of a project—proposals, resumes or job descriptions," Gonzalez says. The area near the bottom right indicates online members with a solid blue icon, while offline members are in grey.
The screen shows how to create a content rule in CPX. "When something comes into the collection like a Microsoft Word document, you want to take action on it," Gonzalez says. The choices might include converting content into a new form. "In this case, we're doing this on a TIFF file that's coming in from a scan process. We're asking for it to be run through OCR to convert it into any of the renditions that are showing at the bottom. You could convert into a Word document, or a searchable PDF
