From any Windows application, using a File Print command, a user can publish a document to a selected destination in DocuShare, in printable PDF format. The user sends the document to a Docushare virtual printer, selecting a DocuShare collection and optionally specifying metadata to store with the document, such as a title, summary, description, keywords, author, or other field. DSPublisher requires a module be installed on the user's PC workstation, with a separate module installed on the server for format conversion and upload to DocuShare. The client module creates a virtual DocuShare printer usable by all Windows NT/2000/XP applications. The file to be stored is compressed and transferred with print instructions to the second module, which receives the print file, decompresses it and processes it. The file is converted to PDF and imported into DocuShare following the user's print instructions.
