FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE XEROX ALLIANCE WITH SUN MICROSYSTEMS BRINGS DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT TO SUN ONE DocuShare 3.0 Software Provides Increased Scalability with Solaris Operating Environment and Integrates with Sun ONE Portal Server ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 15, 2003 -Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) and Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced that Xerox DocuShareŽ 3.0 Web-based document and content management software is available for customers running on the Sun Open Network Environment (ONE), bringing users a document management system that scales to fit the size of their needs. DocuShare is Xerox's easy-to-use and affordable Web-based collaboration software. DocuShare 3.0 for Solaris is built on new Java-technologies-based architecture that extends from workgroups to large enterprises and helps companies effectively collaborate and share documents. Case in point: Tulane University, one of many customers benefiting from the Sun-based Xerox solution, is running DocuShare on multiple servers including Solaris. The university has significantly cut maintenance, storage and archiving costs by using DocuShare to digitally manage vendor contracts, accounts payable invoicing and medical research documents. "We wouldn't use any other product than DocuShare for our imaging and collaboration applications-it's flexible and scalable, virtually unbreakable on Solaris," said Mike Britt, director of document and visual communications at Tulane University in New Orleans. The Sun ONE Portal Server is the industry's first identity-enabled portal server, allowing users to log on once and access multiple applications, streamlining work processes. DocuShare features can now be made available from within the server, and Xerox offers a connector to the Sun ONE Directory Server that makes it easy to create and manage DocuShare users directly from a corporate directory. Integration of DocuShare 3.0 for Solaris with the Sun ONE Portal Server is offered by leading system integrators, including MG Solutions, Inc., a Sun ONE partner. "Customers are asking for personalized and affordable document management capabilities for their portal solutions," said John Fanelli, director of business management network identity, communication and portal products for Sun Microsystems. "They have a requirement to manage content and collaborate online, and the Java-based Xerox DocuShare is a perfect complement to the Sun ONE Portal Server." DocuShare 3.0 is sold through Xerox direct sales representatives, agents, concessionaires, Xerox Business Partners and Teleweb sales channels, and is immediately available for Solaris, Windows and Linux systems. The entry-level list price for a complete DocuShare system with 10 seats is $4,145, and a 100-seat system is $9,995.
